The summer’s best recipes are simple. Legit Provisions, a farm to table micro market, found the perfect formula for a summer favorite: fruity, refreshing frosé.
Just three ingredients including water go into the slushy machine for a day-drinking cocktail that’s flavorful and customizable. “All we do is combine purée with Lara & Rand rosé to create the drink,” says Sarah Woodward, marketing coordinator at Legit Provisions.
Currently in the process of moving to their new location in Napa Valley, Frosé became instantly popular at Legit Provisions’ original location in St. Helena. Legit Provisions keeps it fresh by rotating flavors two at a time in its Vevor frozen drinks machine. Summer favorites uses The Perfect Purée Mango Puree and Passion Fruit Concentrate. Blood Orange Concentrate, Pomegranate Concentrate and Apple Cranberry (equal parts Green Apple Puree and Cranberry Puree) are also part of the rotation.
Legit Provisions’ owner, Chef Kiersten Firquain, feels the combination of local rosé wine and all-natural fruit purée from another Napa neighbor represents her brand. “Legit Provisions values real food and real people,” Chef Kiersten says. “Our goal is to make people feel authentically good without any fuss.”
Frozen drinks beat the heat but if they come from a slushie machine they’re often high in sugar, alcohol and artificial ingredients. Frosé on the other hand still feels indulgent yet healthier. Kiersten, known as Chef K, says it’s a perfect match for Napa’s low-key luxury and puts a playful twist on local wine. “I think frosé became popular with our regulars because it feels casual, like a frozen margarita or a Slurpee, but still celebrates one of the region’s outstanding products,” Chef K says. “It’s a juicy, tart treat guaranteed to satisfy on a summer day.”
Chef K says soon, Legit Provisions will be offering ABV-free frosés so that the whole family can frosé the day away. To go with those frosés, Legit Provisions serves high-quality New American-style farm-to-table meals, authentic Kansas BBQ and local beverages in a casual setting. Its micro market sells grab & go meals and meal kits. The vibe is friendly and playful (Kiersten’s Golden Retriever, Cooper, is often pictured on Instagram with four-legged friends). The move from St. Helena to Napa allows Chef K to work closer to home.
“We are grateful for our friends in St. Helena who helped Legit Provisions grow and look forward to welcoming them to our new spot,” Sarah says. “Our goal is to expand into other locations in the future!”
