Angel Postell, Founder and Producer, Home Team Communications, BevCon® and Sipindipity, Charleston, South Carolina
Angel Passailaigue Postell has done more for the beverage industry in recent years than just about anyone. In 2017 in her hometown of Charleston, she launched BevCon®, the first beverage industry-only conference for professionals including bartenders, sommeliers, buyers, beverage makers, distributors, importers, media, marketing and public relations professionals and related companies. This year’s event takes place Aug. 19-21 at the LINE Hotel in Koreatown, Los Angeles. In two short years, BevCon® has quickly become one of the country’s most exciting and inspiring beverage events for industry insiders to learn from one another, share resources, network, and become inspired to grow their respective businesses.
Angel has a background in public relations, marketing, and special event planning with a focus on the travel and tourism and food and beverage industries — making her the ideal catalyst for an event like BevCon®.
The Perfect Purée is a founding sponsor of BevCon® and this year presented a new national cocktail competition in conjunction with BevCon®.
“The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley has been an important underwriter and partner for BevCon® in Charleston and now in Los Angeles,” Angel says. “They are dedicated to elevating the beverage industry by supporting events like ours. We are thrilled to have them as the 2018 Official Cocktail Competition underwriter and look forward to tasting the creative drinks featuring their products by the two winning bartenders at the various parties and events.”
Angel received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a special focus in Advertising/Public Relations from the University of Central Florida in 1995. From there, she served on the host steering committee for World Cup Soccer — Orlando in 1995. Postell then opened her own public relations firm in Jacksonville — Passailaigue Communications — specializing in art and tourism clients.
In April 2000, she returned to Charleston and became the Public and Media Relations Manager at the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
In spring 2004, Postell opened Home Team Communications, Inc. a full-service, communications and public relations firm with clients including McCrady’s, Sienna, FIG, Ted’s Butcherblock, and the South Carolina Seafood Alliance.
That same year, she was asked to consider starting a food and wine festival in Charleston. Angel served as the chair of the planning committee for the Charleston Wine + Food Festival, then as the event’s producer. After a successful inaugural year in April 2005, the Charleston Food + Wine Festival’s Board of Directors hired Postell to serve as executive director.
In 2013, after eight years as the festival’s director, Angel re-opened her PR firm representing culinary-related businesses in Charleston. She is the proud mother of two sons, Riley and Chase.
