A Celebration of Indian-Inspired Cocktails

Indian culture is one of the oldest and most diverse in the world. It’s rich with tradition and aromatic flavors are at the heart of its sophisticated cuisine. Originally from Nagpur in India and now a New York resident, Rohit Gawali has more recently spent his time in California fusing mixology and his culture at SHOSHA restaurant. With Diwali Festival just around the corner, Rohit created 5 Indian-inspired cocktails for the 5 days of Diwali.

“Being from India, mixology and bartending isn’t a traditional career path that one would choose. However, in college the presentation of cocktails and flaring of bartending grabbed my attention. After moving to the United States and working in Indian restaurants here, I noticed there were a lot more flavors in the Indian culture that I could incorporate into mixology. So, I started to experiment with more of the unique flavors of the Indian culture to create my own cocktails.”
