Laura Aidan / Owner, Prohibition Creamery, Austin, Texas
Prohibition Creamery’s boozy twist on ice cream is a truly intoxicating delight. Since opening in 2016, the ice cream and cocktail lounge combines two favorite indulgences, alcohol and ice cream. Sundaes, milkshakes, or just by the scoop, the ice cream spirit brand has a full liquor license and boozy ice creams only for those of legal drinking age.
Owner Laura Aidan’s ice cream journey began in her home kitchen with the nostalgia of childhood baking. Her years in science and technology made her fall in love with the science behind ice cream making, which led her to attend Penn State University’s 125-year old ice cream program. After spending several years of perfecting infusing spirits into intoxicating ice cream, Prohibition Creamery was born. The Perfect Purée has been there since day one.
“We love to use The Perfect Purée in our fruit sorbets, milkshakes and fruit sauces. We love knowing that we won’t have any product waste from overripe, underripe or bruised fruit.” Aidan says.
The Perfect Purée Blueberry Puree is one of several flavors featured at Prohibition Creamery. The flavor is featured in a customer favorite which combines Blueberry Gin Sauce served over cheesecake ice cream with a toasted graham cracker crumble.
Another Texas favorite, Prickly Pear, is featured on the menu with Prickly Pear Mezcal Sorbet. The Perfect Purée Prickly Pear Puree combines with Mezcal for a delicious twist on a margarita and is also vegan friendly. In using The Perfect Purée, Aidan says, “It also allows us to maintain consistency in our sorbets, we know the ripeness and sugar levels will always be consistent and that the flavors will always be fresh and vibrant.”
Aidan’s mission is to make the best ice creams imaginable, to be the ultimate indulgence destination, and to be the best part of people’s day.
